January 2024

The walking year started with what must be a group record; Alun’s walk around (or up) Foel Offrwm continuing with the Precipice Walk attracted 34 people, a good mix of Meirionnydd members, friends from other groups and walkers new to the group. Rita’s circuit of Moel Goedog was also well supported, with members of the Friday group joining us. Gill C had cold but beautifully sunny conditions for her walk from Ganllwyd to the Rhaeadr Ddu waterfalls and Cefn Coch goldmine. We encountered a good bit of bog on Adrian’s walk a few days later but it was worth it explore an area near Bala little known to the group and to visit the modest top of Craig y Garn. A few days later, Liz chose an unusual approach to the Glasdir Copper Mines, starting on a riverside path from Llanelltyd. With Gill R having to cancel her Aberdyfi walk due to appalling weather, that just left one more January walk, a linear route with Jacky, following Glyndwr’s Way from Cemmaes Road to Machynlleth. I hope you enjoy our photos from these walks.
