We occasionally have to cancel a walk because of bad weather, but June found us in the unusual position of having to cancel one because the weather was too hot! |The heatwave only lasted a few days, though, and four other walks had already taken place during the month. We started on a lovely, sunny day with Alun’s walk on the Llŷn Peninsular, a linear route on the coast path from Rhiw to Aberdaron. Next, a few brave souls accompanied Dave across the Rhinog “Badlands”, an area of rough, rocky and desolate terrain below the main Rhinog ridge. In contrast, Gill’s walk explored the green hills on either side of Cwm Maethlon (Happy Valley), with a visit to Llyn Barfog (the Bearded Lake) and its “Echo Rock”. Our last walk in June was from Borth y Gest to the rocky twin-topped hill of Moel y Gest when once again, leader Alun was blessed by perfect walking weather.
