May’s routes were widespread and varied, from a walk to the site of an old hill fort on the Llŷn to a circuit above one of Snowdonia’s southernmost valleys. We also visited a beach, a waterfall and goldmines, a river and a lake. The month started with Alun’s walk through meadows and woods to Garn Bach and the hillfort on Carn Fadryn. The bluebells were spectacular! Rita followed this with a short walk along and above Harlech Beach. Those brave enough to venture onto the Ratgoed Skyline with Jacky had to battle with strong winds at times but, after an hour of rain at the start, enjoyed sunshine for much of the rest of the day. Kevin’s first walk as leader explored the beautiful Rhaeadr Du waterfalls and Cefn Coch goldmines near Ganllwyd. The month was nicely rounded off with Carol’s Afon y Glyn walk, following riverside and woodland paths and visiting the pretty lake of Llyn Tecwyn Isaf.
